Why I Need a Break

I have been going going going for a while now and it’s beginning to really wear on me.  I’ve always been someone who needs quite a bit of downtime to feel like myself.  I need time to sit and zone out, to read blogs, to watch a TV show, to read a book, etc., etc., etc.  When I don’t get this time, I tend to sacrifice sleep in an effort to be able to do some of those things that make me feel human.

Since I’m now changing what feels like everything about the way I live, I’m having some trouble finding balance.  Yes, I can read at the gym.  Or I can watch TV (although they always seem to have the Food Network on…why!?).  I can listen to music or sermons if I want.  But since I’m still not to the point where the gym is relaxing for me, those just become ways to distract myself rather than something really enjoyable.

I know that it will get easier.  These things I am doing will become habits and I will feel like myself again (although hopefully a better version).  In the meantime, though, every day is a struggle and my body, mind, and emotions all need at least a little bit of a break.
